Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how The Five Society collects, uses and protects your personal data. We are committed to discretion and data minimisation.

Data controller & contact

The Five Society is operated by [legal entity — to be completed before launch]. For any privacy request or question, contact [privacy contact email — to be completed before launch].

Data we collect

Application details, profile information, the cities you select, your introductions and event activity, travel plans, messages, and technical data needed to operate the service.

How we use data & lawful basis

To review applications, operate the Society, surface relevant members and opportunities, and protect community trust and safety. We rely on the performance of our membership agreement with you, your consent (for AI-assisted features and optional communications), and our legitimate interests in running a trusted, invitation-only community.

AI-assisted features & subprocessor

Some features — suggested introductions, profile and opportunity summaries, weekly briefings, and moderation assistance — are powered by AI. When these run, a sanitised projection of your profile (such as your industries, interests and what you can help with — never your private messages, email or phone) is sent to our AI subprocessor, Anthropic, PBC (a United States provider), which processes it to generate the result and does not use it to train its models. International transfers are made under appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses).

AI features are off by default at the platform level and require your individual consent. You can turn AI processing of your data on or off at any time in your privacy settings; when off, you only ever receive deterministic, non-AI results.

Subprocessors

We use the following processors to operate the service:

  • Supabase — database, authentication and hosting.
  • Anthropic — AI processing of a sanitised profile projection, only when AI features are enabled and you have consented.
  • Apple (APNs) — delivery of push notifications to your devices.

Your rights

Subject to applicable law (including the UK and EU GDPR), you may request access to, rectification of, erasure of, restriction of, or portability of your personal data, and you may object to certain processing or withdraw consent. You can manage what is visible to other members through your privacy settings, delete your account in the app, and toggle AI processing on or off at any time. To exercise other rights, contact us using the details above; we aim to respond within the timeframes required by law.

Data retention & deletion

When you delete your account, your profile is immediately removed from the Society and your access is revoked. Your personal data is anonymised and then permanently deleted on a scheduled basis (approximately 30 days later), except where we are required to retain limited records to meet legal obligations.

Minimum age

The Five Society is intended for adults. You must be at least [minimum age — to be completed before launch] to apply for or hold membership.

This policy is being finalised with legal counsel prior to public launch; bracketed items will be completed before the service goes live.
